Wedding Music :: The Music Book

So how do you plan music for a wedding?

Wedding Ceremony Music

Assuming it's a traditional Christian wedding service, popular choices are a string or wind quartet to play gentle background music while people wait for the bride to arrive. And then a triumphant Wedding March with great pomp and ceremony. In a church, you may have access to the church organ, and prefer a wedding organist. Both of these options work well for any hymns that will be sung during the service and more background music while the register is being signed.

Or you could jump on the bandwagon and dance down the aisle to Chris Brown's Forever like the JK Wedding, where all you would need is a CD and sound system.

Wedding Reception Music

This is where the choice widens. It all depends on what kind of wedding dancing you'd like for your friends and family.

Are they the type who like to do traditional dances like the waltz and foxtrot, or hot sexy Latin dancers who like to rumba and salsa, or would you like to be the cool cat and play a lot of jazz? These types of music go well with a live band.

Maybe you'd like a DJ to play a selection of your favourite songs. Or you can give a DJ a list of preferred music styles, and leave the choice to the DJ. It's one less thing to organise.
